Envision Energy Services, LLC is a partnership of electric cooperatives in Kentucky. We have pooled our more than 50 years experience in running and maintaining the most complicated electrical machinery in the world to make that experience available to commercial and industrial energy users across the state.

About Us

Our roots began in the cooperative quest to provide power to all members in our service region. We carry and continue that philosophy to our Commercial and Industrial members within these areas. Our high commitment to customer satisfaction is portrayed in extremely vigorous repeat business that we are called to perform for our members time and time again.

Our cooperative membership continues to grow as members call on their energy providers for more elaborate engineering services. We are heavily involved in end-user project management, allowing them to free up internal personnel for more immediate duties. Envision provides detailed engineering reports based on the complexity required by the member. This can range from a simple billing analysis to a grid-level power factor correction efforts all to serve a single members' concerns.

The Challenge: As the economy continues to run at high speed, plant utilization remains high. Unexpected machine outages become not only inconvenient but can lead to lost sales.

All equipment wears out. The challenge is to determine where it is on its failure curve and to make repairs at the right time - before there is a catastrophic failure, but not so early in the curve that the machine is being over maintained.

The Service: Because failing electrical equipment begins to give off heat before any other evidence of deterioration is visible, infrared inspections can find problems before they become catastrophes.

Bearings have similar characteristics; they produce heat at the beginning of the failure cycle. We provide full inspections of your entire facility or spot inspections of suspected problem areas.

You receive a complete report of any problems found. The report gives you all the data you need to create a plan of action to deal with the maintenance needs identified.

The Benefit:

Infrared inspections are done while the plant is running causing little or no interference with production.
Maintenance costs are reduced because the information from the inspections allows you to service equipment only when it needs it.
Because most problems are found far enough in advance of failure that you can schedule the repairs, the inspection allows you to make repairs when they will have the least effect on production.

The Challenge: As factories and businesses rely on energy without blinks, power quality is important. When a blink occurs, processes fail and businesses experience increased costs. Although equipment manufacturers are making some attempts to immunize their equipment from these electrical events, it is for the most part left up to the user to solve the problem. We have the equipment and the knowledge to work with you to identify and solve power quality problems.

In-plant analyses of disturbances and harmonics so that the solutions you choose will match the problems you have.
Recommended solutions. We always seek the lowest cost, most reliable solution. We first look to possible operational changes then to improvements in the building's wiring system and finally to addition of equipment.
Equipment to eliminate the problems. We will not disappear after the sale. We will provide installation and commissioning, and we will be there long after the sale is complete.

The Challenge: Your electric service is, on average, more than 99% reliable. However, severe weather over the past several years has caused outages in some areas.

Your utility tries to restore power as fast as possible but, in the face of extensive severe weather, service restoration may take a while.

On the other hand, many businesses must stay open, either because of contractual agreements with customers or because of the nature of their business.

The Challenge: Many businesses do not have the cash in the current year's budget to implement changes that are clear winners. Cash needs to be conserved for projects more directly related to the activities of the business. Cut your lighting energy use by up to 20% while improving the illumination in your facility. Lighting is a significant portion of many businesses' energy use.

The Challenge: Poor power factor causes excess current to flow through power delivery equipment. Since equipment is specified based on its current rating and because losses are proportional to the square of the current, poor power factor can lead to increased operating and capital expense for you and the utility.

Many utilities encourage their customers to improve their power factor by adding a surcharge to their bill to compensate them for the increase expense to provide service to a low power factor load.

Adding capacitors will raise power factor and consequently eliminate the utility surcharge. It will also help you increase plant capacity if you have circuits or transformers that are at or near full capacity.

The challenge is that capacitors can interact with the electrical system in a detrimental way and amplify existing distortion in the system to levels that are unacceptable to your equipment.

The Service: We have been assisting businesses to improve their power factor for many years. A variety of services are offered to meet your power factor needs.

These services include:

A complete analysis of the present situation and the design of power factor correction equipment. The deliverable would be a complete set of specifications that you could use to bid equipment.
We would survey the power factor history of the facility, monitor the harmonic content of the voltage and current in your facility, and provide complete analysis of the possible interaction of the proposed capacitors with the electrical system. The final design would be such that it would not negatively impact the system and may even improve the quality of the power.
As an alternative, if you so choose, we would act as your agent and assume full responsibility for power factor correction, providing you with a turnkey installation. We would secure bids from up to three suppliers and arrange for the installation of the equipment that you choose to purchase.
A third alternative would be for us to be one of several bidders on the job. We would perform all the analysis discussed above on a proprietary basis and would include it as part of our bid.

Better voltage regulation from reduced overall system current
